About the office
The Assessor establishes fair and equitable values for all real estate, taxable personal property, and taxable motor vehicles in the Town of Morris. The assessment year runs from October 1 through September 30. Assessment work is completed for finalization of the Grand List on January 31.

The office discovers, lists, and values taxable and non-taxable real estate and personal property; publishes annual Grand Lists for real estate, personal property, and motor vehicles; determines eligibility for property tax exemptions for organizations, veterans, and people with disabilities; processes tax rebate applications for elderly or disabled homeowners and renters; and prepares field cards and plot maps.

When the Assessor’s Office is closed, Assessor’s Street Cards (field cards) and Comparable Sales Notebooks are available in the Town Clerk’s Office.

Revaluation
Morris’s last revaluation was October 1, 2022. The next scheduled revaluation is October 1, 2027.
